ALLOCUTION DE HEGEL À SES AUDITEURS À L’OUVERTURE DE SES LEÇONS DE BERLIN, LE 22 OCTOBRE 1818 : INTRODUCTION À UNE « PHILOSOPHIE DE L’UNIVERSITÉ »

Résumé : Le 22 octobre 1818, Hegel prenait fonction à l’Université de Berlin en qualité de professeur de philosophie. À cette occasion, il a, en ouverture à ses cours, prononcé un discours programmatique dans lequel il a exposé les grands principes d’une « philosophie de l’université » qui consiste non pas à placer l’université sous le regard extérieur de la discipline philosophique, mais à expliciter la philosophie que recèle en soi la chose universitaire et que le fonctionnement de l’institution est censé mettre en œuvre conformément à ce qui fait son essence. C’est de cela que cet article entend rendre compte en suivant les principaux moments à travers lesquels le Philosophe de Berlin avait exposé cette thèse.

Hegel’s address to his listeners at the opening of his Berlin lessons, October 22, 1818: introduction to a “philosophy of the university”
Abstract : On October 22, 1818, Hegel took office at the University of Berlin as a professor of philosophy. On this occasion, he opened his lectures and delivered a programmatic speech in which he outlined the main principles of a « philosophy of the university » which consists not in placing the university under the external gaze of the philosophical discipline, but to explain the philosophy that the academic thing contains in itself and that the functioning of the institution is supposed to implement in accordance with what is its essence. That is what this article intends to account for by following the principal moments through which the Philosopher of Berlin had expounded this thesis.
